I would like your opinion

Hey friends, I would like your opinion.

I started working on a record towards the end of last year with some amazing folks. In March, 8 songs were mixed. Fast-forward a few weeks and everything was sequenced and mastered.

Then everything really went to shit with the world.

Some people have been inspired by this new-found solitude and have been even more creative and prolific and I’ll admit I’m jealous. Mostly I’ve just shut down. I’ve played few online shows and porch parties but it’s felt like a chore, even though the actual performing is the greatest thing in the world and I loved every minute of it.

I’ve written a few tunes I really like, but for the most part I rarely pick up a guitar or get creative all week, save for the occasional 30-second jamout.

Which brings me back to my record. I have a record I was going to promote with a proper agency (for the first time in ages), make some videos, book some shows, jump in the car, see your smiling faces, etc… but now that’s on indefinite hold.

I’ve considered waiting until this is all over, but who knows when that will be. I’ve considered starting from scratch with a ton of new tunes. I’ve considered moving to Ireland to buy a farm. I’ve considered lots of things.

Since people don’t seem to consume records like they used to I’m leaning towards releasing 1 song a month with a video and then the whole album at the very end with the last 2 songs.

I can’t sit on these children forever and I really want people to hear each tune. I’ll probably schedule an on-line show with each song release and maybe even some fun extras.

Any suggestions about the record or how to find that spark again?

Hope you're well,

John
